California Man Killed in Head-on Collision in Moniteau County
A California man was killed in a head-on collision with a Mack truck Tuesday morning in Moniteau County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2006 Mack CXN, driven by 32-year-old Joseph S. Harrington of Bevier, was on US 50 at Petree Road (east of Tipton) at 6 a.m., when the truck crossed the center of the roadway into oncoming traffic, and struck a westbound 1994 Mazda pickup, driven by Juan C. Aguado-Vasquez of California, Mo.
Vasquez was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:45 a.m. by Moniteau County Coroner Marty Ramsdell. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Harrington suffered moderate injuries, and his passenger, 30-year-old Bernadette L. Boyd, also of Bevier, suffered serious injuries. Both were transported to the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia. Harrington was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, while Boyd was not.
Both vehicles were totaled.
Moniteau County deputies assisted the seven Troopers at the scene.
