Carrollton Man Dies in One-vehicle Rollover in Lafayette County

A Carrollton man died in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Wednesday morning in Lafayette County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2007 Ford Fusion was northbound on Missouri 23, about a half mile south of Goodwin Road at 9:39 a.m., when the vehicle traveled of the left side of the roadway and overturned.

The Ford came to rest on its top, down an embankment in a creek, according to the report. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Shaun A. Epley of Carrollton, was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Epley was pronounced dead by Lafayette County Deputy C. Burns at 10:15 a.m. The body was taken to Forensic Frontier by the Jackson County Medical Examiner.

The Fusion was totaled.

Lafayette County deputies, as well as the Alma Fire Department and Carrollton Police, assisted the four Troopers on scene.
