Clinton Man Dies from Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

This morning at 8:53 a.m., Clinton Police Officers responded to the scene of a reported shooting in the 300 block of East Jefferson Street.  Upon arrival officers encountered two female occupants of the residence.  They told responding officers they heard what sounded like a gunshot in the bedroom of a male resident of the home.

Officers found the door of the bedroom barricaded from the inside and after forcing their way into the room found a 57-year-old white male of the home deceased on the floor.

Preliminary investigation by Clinton Police detectives and Acting Coroner Sheriff Kent Oberkrom revealed that the subject apparently died from a single self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.  The deceased party was transported from the residence by Consalus Funeral Home.
