Late Tuesday night, Sedalia Police were alerted to a hit-and-run accident by witnesses near Magnolia and South Moniteau Avenue.

Officers located the suspect vehicle on South Moniteau Avenue past West 17th Street, where they conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle.

When Officers made contact with the driver, the strong odor of marijuana was coming from the vehicle.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the driver had a suspended driver's license and was intoxicated. Marijuana and alcohol were also found in the vehicle.

Hayden Wayne Martin, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he refused to provide a blood sample.

A search warrant was obtained, and Martin was transported to the BRHC for a blood draw. Martin was then transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he placed on a 24-hour hold.

A request for the charges of Driving While Intoxicated (Prior Offender), Driving While Suspended, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Possession of Marijuana, and Minor in Possession of Alcohol was submitted to the prosecutor.
