Excelsior Springs Man Killed In Clay County Crash
An Excelsior Springs man was killed in a three-vehicle accident that occurred Monday morning in Clay County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2000 Dodge, driven by 30-year-old Richard A. Dobbins of Excelsior Springs, failed to yield at a lighted intersection at US 69 at North Jesse James Road at 10:12 a.m., and struck a northbound 2012 Nissan, driven by 32-year-old Michael P. Neary of Lawson, on the passenger side.
The Nissan then struck the front of a southbound 2019 Chevrolet, driven by 54-year-old Jon W. Webber of Cameron. The Dodge overturned into a ditch, ejecting the driver.
Dobbins was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:19 a.m., by Paramedic Scott Guthrie. Dobbins was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.
Webber suffered minor injuries, and was transported by private vehicle to Mosaic Hospital.
All three vehicles were totaled.
