I've heard of sleepaway camp, bible camp, basketball camp, scout camp, all sorts of different things camp-wise. But I gotta say this one is a first!  Aqua Camp?! Yep, it's a thing.  And you know I live under a rock, so it shouldn't be a surprise that this is the first time I've heard of it.  It's basically an advanced swimming class put on by the Sedalia Parks and Rec.  Strong swimmers who are between the ages of seven and twelve can sign up and learn water safety and get advanced swimming instruction.  There are even crafts and and water games!

See, this is another great example of how things are a lot better for today's kids. But then, I might be an old curmudgeon. I remember taking swimming lessons at Liberty Pool, but only vaguely.  I seem to remember you had to swim the full length of the pool on your own to pass?  It was something like that.  The biggest thing for me was learning how not to swallow pool water and tolerate being able to keep my eyes open underwater.  Oh, and to avoid the kid that kept threatening to pee near you.

And now, kids can get an extra week of advanced training to become the best swimmers ever.  How great is that?  It's not expensive either, it's only $35 bucks a kid.  The only catch is they already have to be a good swimmer, and you have to get registered by by July 12th.  But that makes sense, because the camp goes from July 19th through the 22nd, so I bet they need a head count.

So, if you've got a kid that loves the water and could use a little something extra to do this summer, why not get em signed up?  It's in the mornings, 9:30 to 11:30, so it's not a huge time commitment. Who knows, maybe they'll teach YOU a few things!  Oh, and you can go find out more here.

Swimmingly yours,
Behka
