A Gilliam couple were injured Sunday in a rollover accident that occurred in Saline County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 82-year-old Roland W. Leimkuehler of Gilliam was the driver of a northbound 1974 GMC truck on Route D at 279th Road at 5:30 p.m. Sunday when he slowed down to avoid a collision with a combine, lost control of his vehicle and ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned.

Roland suffered minor injuries, while his passenger, 80-year-old Margaret C. Leimkuehler, also of Gilliam, suffered serious injuries in the rollover accident. Roland was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, while Margaret was not, according to the report.

Roland was transported by ambulance to University Hospital, while Margaret was flown to MU.

The GMC had moderate damage and was towed from the scene.
