Head-on Crash Kills 20-year-old in Clay County
A head-on crash killed a 20-year-old Rayville man on Tuesday morning in Clay County.
According to the MSHP, a northbound 1998 Honda and a northbound 2017 Ford were on Old Quarry Road, south of Missouri 92 at 7:45 a.m., when the Honda, driven by Noe M. Hale, 20, attempted to pass the Ford, driven by 50-year-old Anthony J. Lewawdowski of Kearney, on a hillcrest and struck a southbound 2012 Ford driven by 57-year-old Marlin L. Morris of Lawson.
The vehicles collided head-on, and the Honda was pushed sideways across the lane into the path of the 2017 Ford. The 2012 Ford continued southbound and struck the side of the 2017 Ford, while the 2017 Ford struck the side of the Honda.
Hale was pronounced dead at the scene by Fire Chief Jeremiah Titus at 8 a.m. The body was transported by First Call to Frontier Forensics. Hale was not wearing a safety device, according to the report.
Morris, who was wearing a safety device, was transported with minor injuries by Excelsior Springs ambulance to Liberty Hospital.
The Honda and 2012 Ford were totaled, while the 2017 Ford had extensive damage. All three were towed.
A total of six troopers were on scene.
