An I-70 crash injured a Bates City man on Wednesday in Jackson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, an eastbound 2003 Ford Ranger, driven by 28-year-old Dustin W. Cross of Bates City, was on I-70 at the 21.6 mile marker (Blue Springs) at 1:27 p.m., when the driver experienced a medical emergency and struck the median cables. Debris from the crash struck a westbound 2020 Volvo, driven by 29-year-old Colten M. Comer of Warrensburg, and a westbound 2020 Ford Transit van, driven by 35-year-old Michael S. Culpepper of Harrisonville.

Cross suffered moderate injuries, and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment.

The Volvo and Transit had minor damage, while the Ford Ranger was totaled.
