The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday morning in Miller County that killed an Iberia man.

The report indicated that a westbound 2002 Chevy Malibu driven by 45-year-old Thomas L. Ciavarella of Iberia was on Route BB at 10 a.m. when it failed to yield to an eastbound 1990 Peterbuilt on Missouri 42 as it was turning left and the Malibu pulled in front of the Peterbuilt, driven by 44-year-old Brandon W. Whittle of Brumley.

Both vehicles then skidded off the highway and the Malibu hit a mailbox. Ciavarella was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:05 a.m. by Miller County Deputy Coroner Barbara Bennett.

The Malibu was totaled, while the Peterbuilt had moderate damage.

Miller County deputies assisted the Patrol at the scene.
