Multiple residents escaped a duplex fire Thursday night north of Warrensburg, according to the Johnson County Fire Protection District.

The District was notified of the residential structure fire in the 700 block of NE 101 Road just before 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Initial reports of the fire included multiple explosions occurring and residents possibly still being inside of the structure. As personnel arrived, all residents were accounted for outside of the building with no injuries.

Three family pets were found deceased in the duplex.

Four District stations responded to extinguish the fire.

The scene was investigated by the Missouri State Fire Marshal with assistance from the Johnson County Fire Investigation Unit. The fire originated in a car port where a vehicle was parked outside of the duplex. The cause of the fire was undetermined.

The District was assisted at the scene by the Johnson County Volunteer Fire Auxiliary and Johnson County Ambulance District.
