The Johnson County Sheriff's Office warned the public about someone executing a phone scam identifying himself as Detective Sellers with the warrant task force. This according to a post on the Johnson County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

The scam goes like this. "Detective Sellers" calls a citizen and tells him or her that he or she has an active warrant out for his or her arrest. He goes on to request payment to eliminate the warrant.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office wants to make it clear: They will never call asking you for payment over the phone for warrants, tickets, or anything else. Let's face it, warrants are official. If you have one there's a good chance you KNOW you have one. And if you don't, I suspect you'll know when the Johnson County Sheriff's deputies show up at your door with one and put you in hand cuffs.
