A 15-year-old male juvenile suffered serious injuries in a crash that occurred when the driver swerved to avoid a deer in Camden County Sunday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that 22-year-old Kenneth P. Bentrup of Osage Beach was the driver of a southbound 2000 Nissan Xterra on Route D, about 755 feet north of Jack North Road at 8:25 p.m., when he swerved to avoid hitting a deer, and ran off the right side of the roadway and struck several trees.

Bentrup had minor injuries, and refused treatment, while the juvenile had serious injuries and was transported by Mercy Ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The Nissan was totaled.
