Pettis County Sheriff Brad Anders posted a photo  on facebook this morning of a new K9 coming to work here in June"

Pettis County Prosecutor Phillip Sawyer and I are excited to announce the coming of the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office newest family member::

Everyone welcome K9 Lord! Lord is our second K9 purchase with funds so graciously provided by the Law Enforcement Restitution Fund (LERF). LERF funds are collected as part of criminal case final dispositions and those funds, by law, are utilized to support a variety of services provided by both the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office and the Pettis County Prosecutor’s Office.

Lord is a 3-year-old, Long-Haired German Shepherd from Czechoslovakia. We were very happy with our acquisition of K9 Cav, which was purchased from Kilo-2 Working Dogs in Decaturville, TN, so we put our faith in them once more! Lord’s partner/handler was selected to be Sgt. Matt Long.

Sgt. Long is a night shift supervisor who will have the honor of working each night with Lord. The pair will be trained for approximately 6-8 weeks before hitting the road here is Pettis County sometime in June.

As sheriff, I want to thank Prosecutor Sawyer for his diligence in seeing this through. Also, special thanks to the members of the LERF Board for their faith in our deputies to fund yet another asset to serve the citizens of Pettis County. --Sheriff Anders
