A Kingsville woman was killed in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Johnson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2010 Pontiac Vibe, driven by 52-year-old Vatina A. Gillespie of Kingsville, was on Missouri 58, one mile north of Route F, just after 1:30 p.m., when she attempted to pass another vehicle and struck a northbound 2014 Lincoln MKS, driven by 18-year-old Bradley C. George of Chilhowee, head-on.

Gillespie was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:05 p.m., by Johnson County Coroner Clark Holdren. The body was taken to Sweeney Phillips Funeral Home.

George suffered minor injuries and sought his own treatment.

Both vehicles were totaled.

There were a total of five troopers on scene.
