A Lexington man was killed and four were others injured in a two-vehicle collision that occurred late Sunday night in Lafayette County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2012 Chevy Sonic, driven by a 34-year-old man from Lexington, was on US 24, one half mile east of County Farm Road (northeast of Wellington), around 11 p.m., when the Chevy crossed the center line and struck a westbound 1996 Ford Explorer, driven by a 19-year-old woman from Gladstone, head-on.

The Sonic then traveled off the roadway, while the Explorer overturned in the roadway, coming to rest on its top.
