Liberty Man Killed In Motorcycle Accident In Cass County

A Liberty man was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred Sunday afternoon in Cass County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, two motorcycles were traveling north on Peculiar Drive at East 195th Street at 3:50 p.m., when a 2006 Harley Davidson driven by 66-year-old Fred M. McInnis of Liberty struck the rear of a 2018 Harley Davidson driven by 52-year-old Richard H. O'Connell of Peculiar.

The collision caused the bikes to overturn, ejecting both drivers.

O'Connell suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Belton Regional Medical Center by Belton EMS, while McInnins was taken to Belton Regional by South Metro EMS. McInnis was pronounced dead at 4:39 p.m. by Dr. Carol Grace.

Both bikes had minor damage.

Cass County deputies assisted the Patrol at the scene.
