The Sedalia Police Department is proud to announce that Officer Paxton has officially completed his field training and is now serving the community as a fully certified officer.

Photos from his badge pinning ceremony with Chief Woolery mark this important milestone and shared with the public.

Each officer receives a personalized badge engraved with their badge number upon successful completion of the department’s Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP)—signifying their transition from trainee to full-fledged officer.

For Officer Paxton, this achievement is especially meaningful. A native of Windsor, Missouri, Officer Paxton graduated from the MCC-Blue River Public Safety Institute Police Academy at the end of 2024, completing over 600 hours of foundational law enforcement training. In February 2025, he was hired by the Sedalia Police Department and immediately began the department’s 16-week FTEP.

This rigorous program consists of approximately 640 hours of hands-on training led by experienced Field Training Officers. Officer Paxton was evaluated daily while learning all aspects of patrol work in Sedalia—from local geography and city ordinances to firearms training, defensive tactics, investigations, criminal law, and department policies and procedures.
