Pedestrian Killed in Cass County

A pedestrian was struck and killed Sunday night in Cass County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a northbound 1989 Chevy truck, driven by 54-year-old Thomas R. Hopkins of Harrisonville, was on East 299th at Southwest Outer Road at 11:35 p.m,, when he struck 30-year-old Joseph E. Monteil of Cleveland, Mo.

Monteil was transported by EMS to Cass Regional Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 12:16 Monday morning by Dr. Girkin.

The Chevy had moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

Cass County deputies assisted the Patrol.
