A Blue Springs man led police on a high-speed chase through Pettis and Johnson counties Friday night, ending in a rollover crash.

Pettis County deputies initiated the chase on US 50 Highway in Sedalia shortly after 8:30 p.m. after attempting to stop the vehicle on a traffic violation. The nearly 30-mile chase reached speeds of 105 miles per hour.

The suspect vehicle, a black 2003 Chevrolet, continued into Johnson County and eventually turned north on Highway 23. A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper had been notified by then and stop sticks were successfully deployed at 23 and Route E. The Chevrolet then traveled north towards 23 and NE 900 Road, where it traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned, coming to rest on its top at 8:53 p.m.

44-year-old Dana Cornell Jones of Blue Springs was taken into custody. According to the report, he suffered serious injuries and was flown to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

The Chevy was totaled and towed from the scene. A total of three Troopers assisted Pettis County deputies in the chase.
