Poplar Bluff Man Drowns In Black River
A Poplar Bluff man drowned Saturday in the Black River in Butler County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 18-year-old James A. Muller of Poplar Bluff was swinging from a rope into the water, when he began to struggle at 5:08 p.m., then submerged, then did not resurface.
He was later pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Andy Moore at 6:35 p.m. The body was taken to the Butler County Coroner's Office, and next of kin was notified.
The incident happened on the Black River, one-quarter mile south of County Road 608.
