Sacred Heart Soccer Beats KC Lutheran, 3-2
On Monday night, Sacred Heart battled to a 3-2 victory over the KC Lutheran Knights at Clover Dell Soccer Complex.
After a strong start that produced multiple scoring chances, the Gremlins quickly found themselves trailing 1-0 after a quick counter goal from the Knights. Being behind at half though has not been an unfamiliar situation for the Gremlins. This young Sacred Heart team has shown the ability to battle back from a deficit time and time again.
Senior Sam Bello scored twice in the second half (32' and 14' minutes) and fellow Senior Francisco Rojas (22') scored his fourteenth goal of the year to give the Gremlins a 3-2 lead with 14 minutes to play. Down two goals, the Knights turned up the pressure and scored off a break-away to pull within one.
In the final minutes of the game, a Knight's player broke free for a one on one with the goal keeper, Easton Webb. Easton came charging off his line and made an incredible save to preserve the victory for the Gremlins.
The Gremlins are now 6-6 on the season and face conference rival, Cole Camp (4-1) at home on Thursday night.
