At approximately 1:23 p.m. Thursday, Sedalia Fire Department crews were dispatched to 901 West 3rd (Third and Prospect) for a report of a structure fire.

Upon arrival at approximately 1:26, crews found fire coming from the front and upper floor windows of the two-story apartment house.

The structure was divided into three apartments and crews made entry for search upon arrival.

SFD Crews located a female subject in a bedroom in a first floor apartment and removed her to the front of the structure.

After initial treatment, she was placed in a PCAD ambulance for transport and SFD was advised she was transported to a Kansas City hospital with burns. Her name is being withheld at this time.

Three persons were displaced due to the fire and were being assisted by the American Red Cross.

The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office was requested to investigate the cause of the fire.

Cold temperatures hampered fire fighting operations and two engines and one truck operated at the scene with some off duty firefighters called in due to the cold weather.

One firefighter was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center with injuries to his foot that occurred during overhaul operations. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time, according to Sedalia Fire Chief Greg Harrell.
