Sedalia Police observed a silver sedan traveling east on Broadway with no headlights and failing to maintain its lane early Sunday morning just after midnight.

The officer activated his emergency lights to conduct a traffic stop at Broadway and Lamine, but the driver failed to stop and a pursuit began.

The suspect vehicle struck two parked cars and continued to flee.

The suspect eventually stopped near 16th and Vermont.

The suspect was ordered out of the vehicle and was then arrested.

Investigation revealed that the driver, 18-year-old Mario Serrano, of Sedalia, was intoxicated. Serrano was taken to the Sedalia Police Department, where he provided a breath sample that showed his blood alcohol content to be above .08.

Serrano was then transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold.

Serrano now faces charges of driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest by fleeing and leaving the scene of an accident.
