A Sedalia man was injured Monday morning in a one-vehicle accident that occurred in Benton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2018 Nissan Versa, driven by 33-year-old Kyle B. Cowherd of Sedalia, was on US 65 Highway, south of Drennon Road at 7:42 a.m., when the vehicle crossed the center of the roadway and began to skid. The vehicle then ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert and became airborne.

The Nissan then struck the ground and returned to the roadway and ran off the left side of the roadway. It returned to the roadway once again and came to rest on the right side of the highway.

Cowherd suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Warsaw-Lincoln Ambulance to Golden Valley Hospital in Clinton for treatment.

The Nissan had moderate damage and was towed from the scene.

Cowherd was later arrested by the Patrol at 8:24 a.m., and charged with driving while intoxicated by drugs, and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, resulting in a crash.
