SPD Now Accepting Applications for 2025 Citizen’s Police Academy
The Sedalia Police Department is now accepting applications for the 2025 Citizens Police Academy.
This six-week, hands-on program is designed to deepen public understanding of law enforcement operations by allowing residents to step into the shoes of a police officer.
Sessions will be held Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., beginning September 30 and concluding with a graduation ceremony on November 4.
All sessions will be held at the Sedalia Police Department at 300 West 3rd Street.

To apply, you must complete a short application and return it in person to the Sedalia Police Department. You also must be 18 years old and be able to pass a background check. Space is limited, so early applications are encouraged.
During the program you will get a look into real-world scenarios regarding the people, policies, and practices of the Sedalia Police department, including: traffic stop practicals, use of force training, investigations overview, building search tactics, crime scene processing, drone technology in policing, K9 unit demonstrations, and more.
