Sedalia Police Arrest Man After Deploying Taser at Casey’s

Sedalia Police arrested Jeffery Waters after a confrontation at Casey's General Store, 716 West 16th, on Sunday after responding to a disturbance call.

According to an SPD report, a Casey's employee called police, stating there was an irate customer in the store, yelling and threatening customers.

While officers were responding, dispatch received a second call from someone who stated, “Get someone there now.”

The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Jeffery Lee Waters, was previously trespassed from Casey's for theft. A store clerk familiar with Waters informed him that he was not to be present in the store. Waters then became aggressive, yelling at the clerk and began to approach her.

Another customer inside the store saw the clerk was in danger and placed himself between Waters and the clerk. Waters then began yelling at and threatening the male customer.

Another Casey's employee was able to get Waters out of the store, but he returned and started yelling at the clerk again.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with Waters. Waters was uncooperative, aggressively walking towards them with his fists clenched. Officers warned him to stay back.

Waters then threatened to “mow down” the officers if they attempted to touch him.

Officers then attempted to deescalate the situation for more than two minutes before giving him commands to make an arrest.

Waters refused the commands and once again started walking towards an officer.

Waters was then Tased successfully, allowing officers to place Waters in handcuffs, which ended the confrontation.

Medical treatment was provided for any superficial injury the Taser inflicted, but Waters refused any other medical treatment, the report stated.

Waters was then transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24-hour hold.

Charges of 1st degree burglary, harassment and peace disturbance were requested of the Pettis County Prosecutor.
