Sedalia Police crime reports 8-24-18

Sedalia Police arrested 22-year-old Chandler M. Underhill of Baxter Springs, Kan., after officers responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a street light at Broadway & Grand at 9:16 p.m. Thursday. Underhill was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Sedalia Police arrested a man after Discount Smokes and Liquor, 2610 W. Broadway, reported a theft at 7:25 p.m. Thursday. According to a report, the suspect left on foot but was later located at 2503 N Woodlawn Drive. 52-year-old Stephen Hjalmar Hermanson was arrested. He was wanted on two Pettis County probation violations, one for stealing (no bond) and one for DWI with a $25,000 cash or surety bond. Hermanson was taken to the Pettis County Jail.


 

A woman was arrested after Sedalia Police investigated a hit and run that occurred just east of 24th and Collins on Tuesday afternoon. According to a report, Starr L. Nicholson, 26, Sedalia, was the driver of a vehicle that struck a 2008 Chevy Tahoe parked on 24th, causing damage to the driver's side mirror around 5 p.m. Nicholson was later stopped at 25th and Washington, where she admitted to striking the victim's vehicle. She was issued a Municipal summons and court date for Oct. 3.


 

Sedalia Police investigated a call involving a party at 3100 Brianna Boulevard at 11:45 p.m. Thursday night. According to a report, the odor of illegal drugs was coming from the apartment. 21-year-old Nathan Jerome Hess was issued a Municipal summons with an October court date.


 

Sedalia Police arrested 41-year-old Terrence J. Cooper of Sedalia at Morgan and Osage for expired plates on a silver Buick Regal at 10:27 a.m. Wednesday. Cooper was found to be driving while revoked. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked and released.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 13th and Grand on a silver 2008 Dodge Charger for expired plates at 5:23 p.m. Wednesday. Arrested was 17-year-old Jordyn Marie Smith of Sedalia for possession of marijuana after the officer detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. She was issued a Municipal summons.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop Wednesday around 4 p.m. in the 2900 block of W. Broadway on a vehicle with no plates. The driver, 37-year-old Brandon Louis Srader, Sr., was wanted on two Pettis County warrants, one for burglary ($5,000) and one for probation violation ($2500). Srader was taken to the Pettis County Jail.


 

29-year-old Angel Naiser of Sedalia was arrested at the SPD on a Pettis County warrant Wednesday around 10 a.m. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $150 cash or surety bond.


 

On Thursday morning just before 7 a.m., Jeffrey Alan Luebbering reported a theft of a pistol and GPS unit from a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of Highland Avenue. The total amount of loss was listed at $1103. There are no suspects.


 

On Wednesday afternoon, Melissa Murray reported that someone left an old hatchet on her front porch in the 1100 block of W. 11th sometime throughout the day. The hatchet was taken and placed into SPD's evidence room.


 

And Pettis County deputies took a report of damage to jail property at the Pettis Couty Jail on Thursday. Charges are pending.
