Sedalia Police reports 10-7-19

Sedalia Police arrested 31-year-old Leon Beamon, Jr., of Sedalia shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday after officers were called to a motor vehicle accident at 2nd and Harrison in which one vehicle struck two others. Police collected evidence at the scene of the suspect vehicle, and along with witness statements, were able to locate the correct vehicle and suspect a few blocks away. Beamon was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and operating a motor vehicle without a valid license.


 

On Sunday, a man reported $1,000 of damage to the interior of his vehicle in the 500 block of South Barrett.


 

On Sunday, a man reported a burglary at his garage in the 1900 block of South Montgomery. Suspect forced entry and stole $1,650 of tools, stereo equipment and tires.


 

On Sunday, a woman reported someone spray painted her vehicle, causing $500 of damage.


 

On Sunday, a man reported someone spray painted vulgar language on the rear of his vehicle in the 1500 block of W. 5th, causing $1,000 of damage.


 

On Sunday, a man reported his mountain bike, valued at $100, was stolen from 3128 W. Broadway. The theft occurred between noon and 1 p.m.


 

On Sunday, a man reported someone stole his Honda motorcycle from the 1300 block of E. 3rd.


 

On Sunday morning, a woman reported someone stole her Donald Trump flag, which was hanging in front of her house in the 900 block of E. Broadway.


 

On Sunday, a woman reported the theft of credit cards and a pair of sunglasses from her car in the 700 block of S. Ohio.


 

On Sunday around 2:20 a.m., Fitters, 500 South Ohio, reported the theft of $200 of items, taken sometime after 8 p.m. Saturday night.


 

61-year-old Bonnie S. Sandifer of Sedalia was arrested on a Pettis County warrant for 4th degree assault after she was seen walking neasr Boonville and New York on Saturday. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $1,500 cash or surety bond.


 

On Saturday, Sedalia Police arrested 19-year-old Gary Alan McKinsey, Jr., of Sedalia at Broadway and Thompson after officers responded to an injury accident that occurred there around 2:25 p.m. A computer check revealed he was wanted on two Pettis County warrants with a total bond amount of $436. McKinsey was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Sedalia Police arrested 46-year-old Samuel Bello Luna of LaMonte on a felony Pettis County warrant with a $12,500 cash or surety bond at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, 2503 W. 16th, around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. Luna was taken to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at Broadway and Emmett around 10:30 p.m. Saturday for improper registration. A computer check revealed that 40-year-old Aimee Marie Burton of Pettis County was wanted on a $7,500 felony Pettis County warrant. Burton was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail.


 

74-year-old Sam L. Branstatter of Sedalia was arrested for shoplifting a beverage at Wood's supermarket, 701 E. Broadway, on Saturday at 1 p.m. He was issued a summons and released.


 

WalMart, 3201 W. Broadway, reported at 4 p.m. Saturday that a subject left the store without paying for $714.32 of items.


 

Sutherland's, 3808 South Limit, reported that three suspects stole $324.95 of tools in two trips to the store on Saturday. Sutherland's also reported a theft to police on Thursday. Video surveillance footage was obtained by Sedalia Police.


 

Late Thursday night, a man reported his vehicle was broken into and vandalized in the 1200 block of Maple Lane, causing $400 of damage.


 

Sedalia Police arrested 25-year-old Evan Christian Bankovich after a traffic stop at 1:19 a.m. Oct. 3 in which the driver initially refused to stop for police at 20th and Prospect. The driver later stopped his vehicle at 16th Street, according to a report. A computer check revealed Bankovich was driving while revoked. He was also charged with resisting arrest.


 

Sedalia Police attempted a traffic stop at Emmet and Saline at 7:12 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3 for moving violations. But the driver failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit, a bag allegedly containing drugs was thrown from the vehicle, according to a report. The bag was later recovered. Once the vehicle was stopped, the driver, 59-year-old Wilbur Barnett of La Monte, was charged with 2nd degree drug trafficking, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. Barnett was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail where he was booked.


 

On Thursday night around 11:55 p.m., a woman reported finding property that contained drugs in the 3400 block of East Broadway. The owner of the property has not been identified.


 

On Thursday, a woman reported finding a bicycle in her yard in the 700 block of W. 3rd. The bike was taken into evidence by SPD.


 

On Thursday, a man reported that his dog was shot with a pellet gun in the 300 block of W. 2nd Street. The dog had minor injuries to its head, neck and ear, according to the report. There are no suspects in the case.


 

On Thursday, a woman reported a burglary that occurred at her residence while she was sleeping in the 100 block of South Grand. According to the report, her front door was left unlocked and the suspect stole her purse.


 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested 44-year-old Carlos A. Aguirre of Sedalia on a Cook County warrant out of Des Plaines, Ill., at 4:31 p.m. Monday in Cass County. He was taken to the Cass County Jail with no bond.
