Sedalia Police reports 11-16-17

Sedalia Police arrested Christopher W. Mathis, 39, Sedalia, after he was caught shoplifting a $5 sandwich at Woods East, 701 E. Broadway, on Tuesday. According to a report, Mathis left the store with the sandwich without paying. He was later taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail. The report stated Mathis has previous arrests for similar conduct and was placed on a 24-hour hold.


 

Donovan Sims, 40, Sedalia, was arrested at 9th and Porter after Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a gray 2002 Dodge 1500 at 3:02 a.m. Tuesday. The driver was charged with Driving While Suspended and the passenger was wanted on a Pettis County warrant for 2nd Degree Assault. The driver was booked and released with a Dec. 20 court date, while the passenger was held on a $7,500 cash or surety bond with a court date TBA.


 

Candice N. Johnson, 33, Sedalia, was arrested after a traffic stop for expired plates at Pettis and Moniteau Wednesday morning. She was wanted on two Saline County warrants. Johnson was taken to the Pettis-Saline County line and turned over to Marshall PD.


 

Rickey W. Barnett, 52, Sedalia, was charged with stealing after a Sedalia Police investigation of theft of hay bales from Central Missouri Sales, Co., 3503 S. Limit. The theft occurred around 7 p.m. Nov. 9. The bales were recovered and Barnett was issued a Municipal court summons for stealing. He now has a Dec. 20 court date.


 

Tkeyea Shemice Thornton, 25, Warrensburg, was arrested for Driving While Revoked after a traffic stop by Sedalia Police on a Chevy bearing plates that checked to a Ford. The car stop took place at Moniteau and Cooper Wednesday. Thorton was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released. Her court date is TBA.


 

Jacob S. Sherrill, 18, Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended after an officer observed Sherrill pull behind a closed auto shop at 12:49 a.m. Thursday. The suspect soon left the auto shop and the officer pulled behind him and noticed a broken tail light on the suspect's car. The suspect then quickly turned south on Quincy and a car stop was conducted at 3rd and Quincy. Sherrill was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was issued a citation and released with a Dec. 13 court date.


 

Joshua D. Brown, 35, Sedalia, was arrested for 3rd Degree Assault after Sedalia Police responded to the 1000 block of S. Grand at 3:55 a.m. on a suicidal subject. The man threatened suicide while officers were on scene. Brown was taken into custody. Following his arrest, the man made threats towards officers. Brown was placed on a 24-hour hold at the Pettis County Jail. A 96-hour committal was then requested by a judge.


 

On Wednesday, Tigerland Motors, 1511 S. Limit, reported that a missing dealer plate of theirs was recovered in Columbia. There are no suspects.


 

On Wednesday morning, Sedalia Police, the Pettis County coroner and paramedics responded to an unresponsive subject in the 3200 block of W. 10th. According to the report, paramedics on scene confirmed the subject was deceased, and the coroner said that all signs pointed to congestive heart failure. No foul play is suspected.
