Sedalia Police reports 2-5-18

On Saturday morning, Kristen Louise Nicholson reported property damage to her vehicle in the 1300 block of S. Ohio. According to a report, the rearview mirror was damaged, which will cost $800 to fix, she said. There is a suspect in the case. The report said the suspect was sending her threatening messages on social media, threatening to assault her and her son. Charges of 1st Degree Stalking and Property Damage are being submitted to the state prosecutor.


 

Christina Kaye Wiggins, 32, Sedalia, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia after Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a 2007 Ford Fusion for no license plate and disobeying a stop sign. The officer said he smelled the odor of marijuana when he approached the vehicle. After calling for backup, Wiggins handed the officer a glass pipe from the center console. A probable cause search did not yield any additional substances. A Municipal summons for March 14 was issued.


 

On Friday morning, Frank Owen Bell reported someone spray painted the side of his garage in the 600 block of W. 7th, causing $50 of damage.


 

Penny Sue Edwards, 63, Sedalia, was arrested after a traffic stop for a taillight out at State Fair Blvd., and Woodlawn Drive at 9:42 p.m. Saturday. A computer check revealed she was wanted on a Pettis County warrant. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail.


 

Police were called to American Inn, 1217 S. Limit, on a disturbance call involving a male and female arguing, with pushing and shoving. Officers were unable to determine a primary aggressor and a 12-hour log was created.


 

Luis Sotelo Alvarado, 21, Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended and also on a felony Pettis County warrant (failure to return leased property) at 1611 S. Limit, at 2:19 a.m. Saturday. Alvarado was taken to the Pettis County Jail.


 

KCP&L reported that a vehicle slammed into one of their power poles, then left the scene in the 1700 block of E. 16th on Sunday evening.


 

On Saturday afternoon, James E. Vansteenburg reported damage to the right rear tire on his 2002 Dodge Ram while attending an event on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. A valve stem was reportedly cut. There are suspects in the case.


 

On Saturday morning, Edward C. Groves reported a hit-and-run that occurred in front of his apartment in the 200 block of S. Engineer. The incident happened overnight Friday. There was damage to his left front quarter panel and bumper, according to the report. The suspect later admitted to the damage. Charges are not being pursued.


 

WalMart, 3201 W. Broadway, reported a $50 shoplifting inident on Friday afternoon. There are no suspects.


 

On Friday, Silvia Vazquez reported a burglary at her residence in the 300 block of McAnally Court that occurred in the past month while she was away. According to the report, belongings were scattered in each room, with numerous items missing, including clothing and jewelry.


 

On Saturday, Gary Wheeler reported the theft of his Taurus M85 Ultralite .38 special with five rounds from the 1600 block of Honeysuckle. The weapon, missing from his locked vehicle, was described as a chrome revolver with a black handle and a two-inch barrel.


 

On Sunday, Sedalia Police took a report from Earl D. Paxton, Jr., who said that he was assaulted at 1200 E. Third on Friday. There is one suspect in the case.


 

Ruben James Lee Logan, Jr., 19, Pettis County, was arrested on charges of destruction of property in the 1900 block of W. 10th. According to a report, the victim said Logan kicked in the door, damaging the door frame. A Municipal summons was issued to Logan with a court date of March 7.


 

On Friday morning, someone turned in a handgun that was found in a parking lot at Holiday Inn Express, 4001 W. Broadway. The serial number was checked, and the gun was not reported stolen. It was placed into SPD's found property.


 

On Friday, Jesse R. Snow reported the theft of a small generator, valued at $500, from his front porch in the 900 block of E. 5th. There are no suspects.


 

On Friday afternoon, Michael Hawkins reported someone damaed the drver's side front bumper and quarter panel on his 2006 Ford Mustang at 3107 W. Broadway, causing $500 - $1,500 of damage.


 

On Friday after at 16th and Montgomery, Sedalia Police arrested 29-year-old Crystle JA Wilson of Sedalia, for Driving While Suspended after a traffic stop for speeding. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released.


 

On Saturday morning, 34-year-old Tara Michelle Karkiewicz of Sedalia turned herself in to the SPD on a Pettis County warrant (fraudulent use of a credit device). She was taken to the Pettis County Jail ona $2,500 cash or surety bond, with a Feb. 27 court date.


 

Jose G. Rubio, 25, Sedalia, was arrested for Driving While Suspended after Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a black Dodge Charger for disobeying a stop sign at 3rd and Washington. Rubio was taken to the SPD for fingerprinting and a Municipal summons was issued with a court date of March 21.
