Sedalia Police: One Arrested in 13th Street Shooting
On Feb. 22 at approximately 9:28 p.m., Sedalia Police Department Officers were dispatched to the area of South Engineer Avenue and East 13th Street in reference to a shooting.
It was later determined that the shooting took place at a residence in the 1200 block of East 13th Street.
Upon arrival, Officers located a 49-year-old male who had sustained a single gunshot wound to the right side of his chest with a small caliber weapon.
Medical assistance was given and he was eventually transported to University of Missouri Hospital via air ambulance. As of 6 a.m. on Sunday, he was listed in stable condition.
Investigation on scene revealed a confrontation between the victim and Michael Ray Carpenter – 28 years old of Sedalia – at the residence.
Michael was arrested for the following State charges:
1. Assault 1st Degree
2. Armed Criminal Action
3. Unlawful use of a Weapon
4. Possession of Methamphetamine
5. Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
6. Habitual Drug User in Possession of a Firearm
Michael was transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold. His bond and court dates are TBD.
