Sedalia Police Reports For April 16, 2021

Early Friday morning, Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle Officers observed speeding at West 16th Street and Thompson Boulevard. When Officers made contact with the driver, the odor of intoxicants was on his breath. During the course of the investigation, it was determined the driver was intoxicated. Gene K. Robinson, 60, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. Robinson provided a breath sample that showed his BAC was above 0.08. Robinson was booked into the jail and released to a sober driver. A request for the charge of Driving While Intoxicated Prior Offender has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Wednesday night, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired license plates in the 1500 block of South Limit Avenue. The passenger of the vehicle gave a false identity during the stop. Through further investigation, the male's proper identity was discovered. James R. Sheets, 32, of Versailles, had three active warrants for his arrest. One Failure to Appear warrant was on original charges of Operating a Motor Vehicle on the Highway Without a Valid License, Failure to Wear A Seat Belt, and Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility. Two warrants were Probation/Parole violations for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Sheets was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail with no bond on the three warrants and pending charges of Identity Theft and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sedalia Police responded to the Chance's R bar, 303 South Lamine, for a report of an assault Wednesday evening. When Officers arrived, the female suspect fled the area and the male victim was waiting outside. Officers spoke with the victim and took statements. The suspect was unable to be located.

Thursday evening, Sedalia Police were dispatched to Starline, 1300 West Henry Street, in reference to found property. When Officers arrived, they spoke with Paul D. Southard Jr., who said while cutting the grass he found a license plate. The plate was secured and placed into evidence for safekeeping.

Early Thursday morning, a traffic stop was initiated on a vehicle for improper lane usage and improper vehicle registration in the area of East 26th Street and South Ingram Avenue. During contact with the occupants, open alcohol containers were observed in the vehicle and a search was performed. A female occupant was found to be possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Jasmine C. Walker, 21, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail. At the jail, Walker was placed on a 24 hour hold pending state charges of Possession of a Dangerous Drug and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sedalia Police responded to the Liberty Park in regards to a disturbance Thursday afternoon. A subject was reportedly trying to get into several houses in the area by pulling on doors. Upon arrival, Officers met with the subject, who during the course of the investigation ran away on foot. Officers caught the subject after a short foot pursuit and arrested the subject. Barry Carle Rivera, 23, of Sedalia, was taken to the Pettis County Jail where he was placed on a 12 hour protective custody hold. Charges were submitted to the city prosecutor for Failure to Obey and Resisting Arrest.

Thursday afternoon, Officers met with Keri L. Kimbrell in regards to a forgery, identity theft and exploitation of the elderly. The amount of money fraudulently obtained was $2,000.

Thursday morning, Officers responded to the 600 block of East 28th Street in regards to a medical issue. A subject had been found in their home deceased. The Deputy Coroner was contacted to respond to the scene. At this time, there is no evidence suggesting foul play.

Thursday morning, Officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to a theft that occurred at the Bristol Manor, 1208 East 24th Street. Patricia Martin said two bottles of her perfume were missing out of her medicine cabinet. The total value of the items was estimated to be $22.00.
