Sedalia Police reports 12-25-19

Sedalia Police arrested 39-year-old Carla Renee Meek of Sedalia at Heck and Driftwood after conducting a traffic stop on an SUV with no plate lights at 2:34 a.m. Friday morning. She was a passenger in the vehicle and provided the officer with a false name. Meek was also wanted on on two Pettis County warrants ($1500 bond each) and a probation and parole warrant (no bond). She was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending the formal filing of charges, which included identity theft.


 

Sedalia Police responded to Blue Moon, 1401 S. Limit, on an initial report of a kidnapping at 8:10 p.m. Monday evening. The victim was soon located with no injury. Investigation revealed that there was also a robbery in which $4,970 of items were taken.


 

Sedalia Police responded to the 2600 block of Bristol Lane at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday on a domestic disturbance where an assault occurred. Arrested was 47-year-old Jorge Luis Azuara Rivera of Sedalia. He was charged with 3rd degree domestic assault and tampering with a witness. Rivera was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold.


 

Twilight Motors, 204 E. 24th, reported a burglary on Monday morning. Someone entered the business and stole several items sometime between 4:30 on Saturday and 9 a.m, Monday.


 

Sedalia Police arrested 27-year-old Nichole Lee Lipe of Sedalia at Broadway and New York on a probation and parole violation Monday. She was taken to the Pettis County jail on a $1,000 cash bond.


 

Sedalia Police arrested 36-year-old Rhonda M. Swofford of Independence on shoplifting charges after an incident at Casey's General Store, 1909 West Main, on Monday at 12:14 a.m. According to a report, Swofford concealed an item under her arm, then proceeded to the bathroom. Management confronted her when she emerged and she left the store. She was later identified and located.


 

On Dec. 14, Hunter Force reported a forced entry that occurred in the 500 block of E. 15th, in which several items were taken.


 

On Monday, a citizen turned in a gun and holster to police that was found on the property in the 600 block of W. 2nd. The weapon was placed into evidence.


 

On Saturday evening, Sedalia Police arrested 41-year-old Rebecca Ruth Alarcon of Sedalia, after conducting a warrant check in the 1200 block of E. 6th. She was wanted on a Municipal warrant with a $60 cash bond. Alarcon now has Jan. 8 court date.


 

On Friday morning, a man reported that several drywall tools were stolen from a house at 1613 Heck Avenue that he is currently renovating.


 

On Friday night, an employee of Break Time, 2801 W. Broadway, reported finding a small bag of drugs on the property. The bag was placed into evidence by police to be destroyed.


 

On Friday at 1:59 a.m., 46-year-old Adan Rivas of Warsaw was arrested at James and Clinton Road on a Benton County warrant for resisting an officer. Rivas was a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $10,000 cash or surety bond.
