Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 5th and Emmett on a speeding vehicle Sunday at 2:40 a.m. Arrested was 20-year-old Abraham C. Parkhurst of Sedalia. He was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where he was charged with DWI and speeding.


 

On Sunday night at 10:21 p.m., Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 5th and Marvin on a gray Honda Accord for a brake light out. 33-year-old Juan Romero Quetzecua of Sedalia, was arrested and charged with driving while suspended or revoked. He was also issued an ICE detainer at the Pettis County Jail.


 

On Sunday around 10 p.m., Sedalia Police responded to the 500 block of West 6th for a follow-up on a case under investigation. A computer check revealed that 23-year-old Jose Herrera-Aguilar of Sedalia was wanted on a Pettis County warrant. He was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond. He now has a Nov. 17 court date.


 

Late Saturday night around 11:45 p.m., Sedalia Police responded to the 200 block of East Boonville. Information was collected and it was determined that no crime occurred.


 

On Saturday night around 7:15 p.m., Tatyanna Buenaflor reported the theft of several items fron her apartment in the 700 block of West 3rd while she was out of town. There is a suspect in the case.


 

On Sunday around 2:45 p.m., Sedalia Police conducted a subject check at American Inn, 1217 South Limit. The officer located a male hiding in the shower of the bathroom of Room 103. The male was detained while a computer check revealed he was wanted on three Pettis County warrants. 39-year-old James M. Steilling of Windsor was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail on a $16,500 cash or surety bond.


 

Sedalia Police took a report on Sunday from a victim who stated they were contacted on Facebook by someone with a full order of protection. The case was submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor for review.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a vehicle stop at Prospect and Wilkerson for a traffic violation on Saturday around 1:24 p.m. 24-year-old Kayla Elizabeth Demshick of Sedalia was arrested and charged with disobeying a signal light, no driver's license, and was also wanted on a Municipal warrant.


 

On Saturday morning at 11:13 a.m., Sedalia Police responded to 17th and Kentucky on a report of shots fired. A subject reported that a man at 1613 South Kentucky had fired a gun. Police then contacted the man at that address and informed him of his Miranda rights. According to the report, the man confessed to shooting a shotgun to stop his two dogs from fighting in his back yard. 25-year-old Joseph M. Allen was issued a Municipal citation for discharging a firearm within the city limits. Allen now has a court date for Dec. 9.


 

Sedalia Police responded to a hit-and-run accident on Welch Court around 1:24 a.m. Sunday. According to a report, the suspect left the scene, but then later returned. Investigation revealed the driver was intoxicated. 46-year-old Martha Ann Reed of Welch Court was arrested for DWI and transported to the SPD, then on to the Pettis County Jail, pending release to a sober person.


 

Sedalia Police responded to Motel 6, 3402 West Broadway on a assault that occurred shortly after 3 a.m. A computer check revealed that 21-year-old Erika Habana Garcia was wanted on a Municipal warrant. She was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $100 bond. She now has a Dec. 2 court date.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop on a purple Impala as it pulled into 318 W. Broadway for failing to maintain the right half of the roadway as it traveled east on Broadway around Grand. Investigation revealed that the driver, 37-year-old Barbara J. Clark of Glasgow, was in possession of and impaired by marijuana. She also had a six-years expired driver's license. Clark was taken into custody, transported to a hospital, then on to the Pettis County Jail where she was booked on state charges of DWI, possession of marijuana and driving without a valid license. She was later released to a sober person.


 

Sedalia Police responded to Clarendon and Southwest Boulevard for an assault report Saturday around 7:15 p.m. Investigation revealed there was not probable cause to indicate that one party assaulted another. A report was completed on the incident. No one was injured.


 

On Sunday around 1:30 a.m., Sedalia Police conducted a vehicle check in the 1200 block of W. 5th and found the vehicle parked in the lane of traffic. The owner of the vehicle then arrived on scene. A computer check revealed that the owner, 29-year-old Christie L. Petree of Sedalia, was wanted on a Benton County warrant. Petree was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a $200 cash or surety bond. Petree now has a court date of Nov. 24.


 

Sedalia Police took a forgery report at McDonald's, 1611 South Limit, on Saturday at 11:18 a.m. Two subjects attempted to pass a fake $100 bill at the fast-food restaurant. The bill was seized by police and security video is potentially available, according to the report.


 

On Friday night around 9:45 p.m., Sedalia Police took a report from a man who said his 2006 Hyundai Azera was just stolen from Dollar General, 2003 South Limit. The Azera was later located driving around the east end of Sedalia. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver refused to pull over, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended in a motor vehicle crash when the driver lost control near Broadway and Winchester. The driver then fled on foot. An investigation is ongoing.


 

Sedalia Police took a report of a runaway juvenile in the 2400 block of West 2nd on Saturday at 1:36 a.m. The juvenile was last seen at home around 10:15 p.m. Friday night. No foul play was suspected.


 

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at Broadway and Center for a defective tail light at 7:42 p.m. Friday. A computer check revealed that 19-year-old Joseph A. Shields was driving while revoked.


 

On Friday at 8:42 p.m., Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop at 7th and Missouri on a vehicle that disobeyed a stop sign 7th and Vermont. The driver provided a false identity, according to the report. His real identity was later discovered and a computer check showed that 49-year-old Jesus Manuel Velazquez of Sedalia was driving while suspended. Velazquez was taken into custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold. He was charged with driving while suspended and identity theft.


 

On Friday morning around 9 a.m., Sedalia Police took a report at 840 La Grand for a property damage report. The victim said someone broke several eggs on her gray 2015 Nissan Sentra sometime overnight. The eggs were still fresh at the time of the report, and the victim took her vehicle to the car wash. A possible suspect was named, but not yet located for questioning at the time of the report.


 

Sedalia Police responded to WalMart, 3201 W. Broadway, for a shoplifting report. Asset protection stated that they stopped a suspect leaving the store without paying for $101.82 of merchandise. The suspect, 46-year-old Nelson Elias, Jr., of Sedalia, was interviewed and issued a Municipal court summons for stealing. He now has a Dec. 2 court date.
