Sedalia’s K-9 Unit Helps MSHP In Seizure of Meth & Currency
On Wednesday, April 6, the Sedalia Police Department's K-9 Unit was called out to assist the Missouri State Highway Patrol with a drug investigation stemming from a traffic stop, according to a facebook post from the SPD on Friday.
K-9 Officer Shania Fox and K-9 Ace responded to the call, where Ace was deployed to sniff a vehicle for the presence of illegal drugs.
K-9 Ace provided a positive alert and a subsequent search of the suspect vehicle resulted in the seizure of just over 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine and US currency believed to be the profit of illegal drug sales, according to the SPD.
“Great job to both Officer Fox and K-9 Ace,” the SPD said. “All your hard work has paid off and you are already making a difference.”
The two began training in October for 10 weeks, and have been in service since early January.
