A Stover man was injured in a one-vehicle accident that occurred late Monday morning in Pettis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2005 Ford, driven by 41-year-old Matthew J. Young of Stover, was on Highway M, just north of Highway V at 11:44 a.m., when the vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway and struck a tree. The impact caused the Ford to rotate and entrap the driver inside the vehicle.

Young suffered serious injuries and was flown by Lifeflight to University Research Hospital for treatment. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the report.

The Ford was totaled.

Pettis County deputies assisted the Patrol at the scene.
