The Sedalia City Council has approved the hiring of Kelvin L. Shaw to be Finance Director

(SEDALIA, MISSOURI): The Sedalia City Council has approved the hiring of Kelvin L. Shaw to be Finance Director. He will replace Sedalia’s retiring Finance Director, Pam Burlingame. Shaw, who is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), currently is the Warrensburg Finance Director. A committee, made up of Mayor Steve Galliher, City Administrator Gary Edwards, Finance Director Pam Burlingame and Personnel Director, John Rice conducted a four-month long search to fill this important city position.
Shaw is a graduate of Central Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting. He is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and was awarded the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for his work on the 2013 Warrensburg budget. Shaw also has extensive private sector accounting experience.
Although Mr. Shaw is the current Warrensburg Finance Director, his home has been in Sedalia for several years. His starting salary is $70,514.
Pam Burlingame will retire as Finance Director in late October. She began working for the City of Sedalia in 1983 and was named Finance Director in 1994. She will remain with Sedalia as a consultant for a period of time to assist Mr. Shaw with the transition.
