Three people were injured in a rollover wreck that occurred in Cass County late Saturday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a northbound 2020 Chevrolet, driven by 28-year-old Austin L. Kusgen of Adrian, was on Missouri 7 at Thunder Road (west of Creighton) at 11:50 p.m., when the vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck trees. The Chevy then overturned, coming to rest on its wheels.

Kusgen suffered moderate injuries, as did one of his passengers, 19-year-old Payton T. Jamison of Archie. Another passenger, 27-year-old Hailey R. Carter of Blue Springs, suffered serious injuries.

Kusgen was taken to Belton Regional Hospital, while Jamison and Carter were taken to Cass Regional Medical Center.

The Chevy was totaled.

Kusgen was later arrested by the Patrol at 1:30 a.m. and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident, DWI, Careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash. He was taken to the Cass County Jail, where he was booked and released.

 

Carter and Jamison were wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, while Kusgen was not.
