Three people were injured in a one-vehicle accident involving an 18-wheeler late Saturday night in Johnson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 1997 Peterbilt 379, driven by 66-year-old Mitchel W. Chrisenberry of Leeton, was on eastbound Missouri 2, east of County Road SW 351 (east of Chilhowee) around 11:30 p.m., when the truck crossed the center and off the south side of the roadway, struck an embankment and a fence. The truck then continued traveling through a creek before coming to rest facing west.

Chrisenberry and his two passengers, 53-year-old Rodney E. Lemen of Leeton, and 55-year-old David S. Harris of Chilhowee, suffered serious injuries and were all transported to Western Missouri Medical Center by private vehicle. Lemen and Harris were not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The Peterbilt had extensive damage and was towed by Don's Truck Towing.
