
Traffic Stop For Excessive Window Tinting Leads to DWI Arrest
On Tuesday night around 11:51 p.m., Sedalia Police observed a black Chevy Avalanche crossing Thompson Boulevard with excessive window tinting.
A computer check also revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle was known to have a revoked driving status.
A traffic stop was conducted at Sylvia Drive and Daryl Drive and investigation revealed that the driver, identified as 47-year-old William Darcel Ballance of Sedalia, was intoxicated.
Ballance was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department, where he refused to provide a breath sample.
A search warrant was obtained, and Ballance was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for a blood draw.
Ballance was then transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold.
A request for the charges of driving while intoxicated chronic offender (a Class D Felony), driving while revoked and operating a vehicle with excessive vision reducing material, was submitted to the prosecutor's office.
