Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop in the area of West Saline Street and Scott Joplin Court for a vehicle failing to maintain its lane Thursday night.

Upon identifying the license plate information to Dispatch, it was discovered the plate had been reported stolen out of Gladstone Missouri.

Once contact was made with the driver, he was identified and discovered to have an active warrant for Failure to Appear out of Johnson County Kansas on original charges of Theft.

A search of the vehicle revealed the driver was also in possession of methamphetamine. James M. Steilling, 39, of Windsor, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.

At the jail, Steilling was placed on a 24-hour hold for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Fugitive From Justice. Steilling provided a bond amount of $7,500 cash or surety for the active Kansas warrant.
