On March 7, administration with the Sedalia 200 School District contacted the School Resource Officer and reported that a man had been observed trespassing on the Smith-Cotton Jr. High School campus. The incident occurred after school had dismissed, however, some students were still on campus for extra-curricular activities. Charges of first degree trespassing have been requested from the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office. A news release from the Pettis County Sheriff's Office did not list the suspect's name. An investigation into the incident continues.
