A Cole Camp woman escaped injury after the car she was in crashed into cable barriers in a one-vehicle accident that occurred late Tuesday night in Jackson County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 26-year-old Robert L. Mills of Blue Springs was the driver of a westbound 2017 Volkswagen Beetle on I-70 at the 25.8 mile marker at 11:40 p.m., when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck cable barriers.

Mills suffered minor injuries, as did a 3-year-old male. Both were transported by Sni Valley EMS to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment.

33-year-old Amber J. Mills of Cole Camp was transported to the Oak Grove Police Department.

Robert Mills was later arrested by the Patrol at 12:10 a.m. Wednesday morning and charged with driving while intoxicated with a person less than 17 in the vehicle, and careless and imprudent driving resulting in a crash.

The Beetle was totaled.

Jackon County Deputies and Oak Grove Police assisted the Patrol at the scene.
