Two people were injured in a two-vehicle rollover accident that occurred in Henry County Saturday afternoon.

According to the MSHP, 42-year-old Michael E. Barnett of Sweet Springs was the driver of a northbound 2007 Hundai Elantra on Highway 13, south of NE 1000 Road at 12:43 p.m., when he sideswiped a southbound 2002 Chevy Impala driven by 62-year-old Mary K. Anderson of Higginsville.

The Impala then ran off the roadway into a ditch. The Elantra also ran off the roadway, struck a Chevron sign, hit an embankment, causing it to go airborne and overturn. The Elantra landed on its wheels facing northwest.

Both drivers were taken to Western Missouri Medical Center, Anderson with minor injuries and Barnett with serious injuries.

The Impala had minor damage, while the Elantra was totaled and towed from the scene.
