Two La Monte Residents Injured in Highway 50 Crash

Two La Monte residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday morning in Johnson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a westbound 2019 Chevy 1500, driven by 56-year-old Paul F. Wilbern of La Monte was traveling in the right lane of US 50, about 600 feet west of Route FF at 5:10 a.m., when it overtook and struck a westbound 1996 GMC Jimmy in the rear, driven by 61-year-old Kathleen I. Frazon of La Monte.

The impact forced both vehicles off the roadway and overturned. The Chevy came to rest on its wheels, while the GMC came to rest on its right side.

Wilbern suffered moderate injuries, and was transported by JCAD to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment. Frazon suffered serious injuries and was transported by JCAD to Research Hospital.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Both vehicles were totaled.

Johnson County deputies and Knob Noster Police assisted the Patrol at the scene.
