Two women were injured Monday morning in a motor vehicle crash that got worse when a third vehicle came along and struck both disabled vehicles parked on the shoulder of the roadway.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2017 GMC was parked on the left shoulder of I-70 at the Blackwater Bridge, while a 2010 Toyota was parked on the right shoulder of I-70 after being involved in a crash in Saline County just after 8 a.m. Monday morning, when a westbound 2015 Chevrolet, driven by 20-year-old Katelyn K. Harris of Lexington, struck the Toyota, then struck the GMC.

Harris suffered minor injuries, as did the driver of the GMC, 25-year-old Loren K. Garrett of Sedalia. They were both transported to Fitzgibbon Hospital by EMS.

The driver of the Toyota, 57-year-old Sandra L. Summers of Sweet Springs, was reportedly uninjured in the incident.

All three drivers were wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, according to the report.

All three vehicles had moderate damage. All three vehicles were towed from the scene by Don's Truck Towing of Sedalia.
