A 31-year-old Kansas woman suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash that occurred in Johnson County just after midnight this morning.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Erika J. Chikly of Overbook, Kan., was the driver of an eastbound 2007 Dodge on US 50, 1/10th of a mile east of County Road NW 821 at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 25 when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck a sign, continuing on to strike the ground twice, a small tree stump and then the ground again, going airborne, returning to the ground and overturning several times, partially ejecting the driver.

The report stated Chikly was not wearing a safety device. She was transported by EMS to Research Hospital with serious injuries.

The Dodge was totaled and towed from the scene.
