A Sedalia man was arrested Monday night on multiple charges after police responded to a call of a possible burglary in progress in the 700 block of Wilkerson. Upon arrival, Police discovered that the man lived there, but a computer check revealed he was wanted on six warrants out of Lee's Summit and Jackson County. A subsequent search also revealed the man was in possession of illegal drugs.

Michael M. Bunting, 33, was charged with possession of marijuana, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and also was wanted on a failure to appear charge. Bunting was also charged with resisting arrest and three counts of assault on a law officer. He was transported to the Pettis County Jail on a 24-hour hold, pending state charges. He had a $400 cash bond from the Lee's Summit warrants and a total of $30,400 in bonds on the Jackson County warrants. A court date has yet to be announced in the case.

On Monday evening, police took a report of a man in the 400 block of E. Seventh receiving harassing phone calls from several subjects claiming to be police and demanding money over the past six weeks. The report stated the Center for Human Services was also involved. No contact with the suspect had been made at the time of the report.

Also on Monday, police took an assault report in the 700 block of S. Lafayette. The victim stated a man punched him in the face, then fled the area. The victim was transported to Bothwell Regional Health Center for treatment.
