A North Carolina man died in a one-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday in Lafayette County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a westbound 2001 Ford F-350, driven by 59-year-old Leroy Jenkins of Stanley, North Carolina, was on I-70 at mile marker 30.6 at 11 a.m., when the vehicle traveled off the roadway, down an embankment, across the outer road, and struck an electrical pole.

Jenkins was pronounced dead at noon by Lafayette County Coroner Dr. Pulliam.

Lafayette County Deputies and SNI Valley Ambulance assisted the four Troopers on scene.
